href="http://www.kolibriszinhaz.hu/" target="_blank">Kolibri</a>
-<br />
 <strong>9-14 January 2012</strong></p>

<p>Kolibri Theater for Children and Youth celebrates its 20th
anniversary this year. The anniversary prompts us, beside the
celebration, to look back: how the alternative puppet theater that
started its career in 1992 has developed to the only professional
repertoire theatre for children and youth in Hungary which performs
for every age-group in many genres.</p>

<p>Our story also reflects the paradigm shift as the companies
performing for children and youth have renewed in the latter
decades after the political transition.</p>

<p>We offer to survey Kolibri on this jubilee occasion between 9-14
January 2012 when 16 performances of the repertoire will represent
our work. The program is selected so that it should present
everything that has determined our first 20 years. It contains
of:</p>

<p><strong>- Plays of Hungarian authors</strong></p>

<p>Our mission is from the beginning to introduce classical and
contemporary Hungarian authors. The latest international
tendencies, adaptations of tales and novels are staged using rich
literary language translated by prestigious Hungarian translators.
(Cult performances: Aunt Pepper, Mellow Submarine, Wormhenry)</p>

<p><strong>- Performances for early years</strong></p>

<p>In the frame of the Glitterbird European Union project we have
presented a show for the age group 0-3 as the first theatre doing
so in Hungary in 2005. By now we are followed throughout the
country so much that in 2010 at the ASSITEJ Biennale of Theatres
for Children and Young People in Kaposvár we organised a separate
festival for the Hungarian performances for early years with the
help of Small Size, Big Citizens European Union project.</p>

<p><strong>- Next Generation performances</strong></p>

<p>We consider it important that our young audiences meet their own
age group on our stages in the performances addressed to them
(Cyber Cyrano, The Web Emporium, Help!).</p>

<p><strong>- Platform 11+ performances</strong></p>

<p>With the help of the Platform 11+ European Union programme we
could call the already well- known, successful contemporary
Hungarian playwrights' attention to the age-group 11-15. Their
plays are already on our repertoire presented with a big
success.</p>

<p><strong>- Small Size, Big Citizens performances</strong></p>

<p>In the frame an other European Union cooperations we produced
our latest performances for early years. (Wiggler, Children of
Kippkopp)</p>

<p><strong>- Classical music performances, operas</strong></p>

<p>This series has built up in co-operation with the Palace of
Arts. The productions accompanied by an orchestra presented there
were staged in the Kolibri in a slightly different shape. (Háry
János, A Midsummer Night's Dream)</p>

<p>Come to our showcase and celebrate with us! Help us with your
critics and comments in the following 20 years. Welcome!</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 23rd of April is a unique and a very special international
celebration. The founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal
Atatürk, dedicated this day to the children of the country to
emphasize that they are the future of the new nation.</p>

<p>It was on April 23rd, 1920, during the War of Independence, that
the Grand National Assembly met in Ankara and laid down the
foundations of a new, independent, secular and modern republic from
the ashes of the Ottoman Empire. He dedicated the day to the
children and entrusted in the hands of the youth the protection of
this sovereignty and independence.</p>

<p>Since 1979, the children of Turkey have shared this national
holiday with the children of the world. Hundreds of children from
different countries and cultures, hosted by families, meet in
festivities to discuss, interact, learn about each other and share
the joy of togetherness and the hope for peace. The importance of
this day is also recognized by UNICEF. Some countries also
celebrate this day.</p>

<p>Since its foundation in 1949, Turkish State Theatre pays special
attention to plays for children and includes them in its
repertoire, since children are not only our future, but also our
future actors, actresses, directors, designers and audience... So
they are the future of theatre.</p>

<p>For this reason, Turkish State Theatre wishes to contribute the
children's day with a special festival, named "Little Ladies Little
Gentlemen", after a speech addressed to children by Mustafa Kemal
Atatürk:</p>

<p><em>"Little ladies, little gentlemen,<br />
You are all the roses, the stars and the sparkling joys of our
future, the ones who will elevate the nation.<br />
Always be aware of your value and significance!<br />
 And work hard...<br />
We have great expectations from you."</em></p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>The Festival:</strong></p>

<ul>
<li>The festival will be held in Ankara (the capital city of
Turkey) between 24th - 29th April, 2011.</li>

<li>The host of the festival is Ankara State Theatre.</li>

<li>The 23rd of April is considered as the check-in day. No
performance will be on this day.</li>

<li>The 24th of April will be the opening day.</li>

<li>The performance days are between 25th and 29th of April
2011.</li>

<li>The groups will depart on the 30th of April 2011.</li>

<li>Each play will be performed twice in a day.</li>

<li>All groups are invited to stay for a whole week.</li>

<li>The festival is non-competitive.</li>

<p><strong>International Theatre conference PLAYgrounds between
facts and fiction: New plays and theatre forms, will take place
from 16th - 19th of June 2011 in Pristina, Kosovo.</strong></p>

<p>Theatre currently plays an import role in finding new ways of
aesthetical presentation and new possibilities of perception for
the audience. Especially the documentary theatre has been
rediscovered and developed further by different theatre makers,
working at the border between theater and reality.<br />
<br />
The recent events on the Balkans is full of history, memories,
broken biographies, that has a wide impact on the theatrical work
of contemporary directors and playwrights. Since 1990 they are not
only confronted with new languages, new social realities, new
nations, but also with mechanism of forgetting or eliminating
history on one hand and with the re-writing of historical
narratives and national myths on the other hand. The stage becomes
a medium to find new artistic ways of expressing and dealing with
these challenges.<br />
<br />
The first day of the conference is focused on the Balkan region,
presenting different plays and projects dealing with the changes,
transformations and sometimes traumatic experiences of the breaking
apart of Yugoslavia and its social, economical and cultural
aftereffects. The second day concentrates on different forms of
documentary theatre from all over the world, on the role of
historical and social reality in drama, but also in literature and
visual arts. Besides the panel discussion and presentation of
specific projects the conference will be accompanied by stage
readings.<br />
<br />
The main focus of the conference is to present new plays from the
Balkan, to discuss about them, but also to bring together theatre
makers and experts from different countries to reflect on the
function of theatre, on new ways of artistic expression and
possible playgrounds for them.<br />
<br />
<em>Please do not hesitate to contact them if you have any
questions.</em><br />
