Lutonjica Toporko
Lutonjica Toporko
Amateur Puppet Theatre, Samobor
The Theatre was founded 20 years ago by Mirjana Jelašac. Since the
very beginning, the puppets have been made of unfinished or roughly
finished wood found in natural surroundings. With time, she also
started using things that had been thrown away. Each production is
a challenge for a new creative adventure that links the dramatic
text with unusually formed puppets.
Apart from performances in the Theatre's small home premises,
shows are also given in kindergartens, schools, libraries,
hospitals, children's homes and out in the open on town squares.
The Theatre has performed throughout Croatia and abroad as for
example at the PIF in Šibenik, and Lodz and Mainz. The production
of Lutonjica Toporko and the Five Little County Prefects was
awarded special recognition for overall achievement in the peld of
theatrical expression at the 44th Festival of Croatian Amateur
Theatres.
